If we dig a bit deeper though you might be surprised by the REAL reason.
It's NOT cause of a rude manager who makes condescending comments…

It's actually due to the lack of recognition.
Employees are driven & motivated by recognition for their work.
In 2019 NBC released a news article stating that a whopping “82 percent of employees feel their supervisor doesn’t recognize them for what they do.”
And 3 out of 5 employees say that they are more motivated by recognition than money. 
So, imagine this...
You spend 2 to 3 days racking your brain, stressed, & under pressure to deliver a project. You might even work after hours to get it done.
Only to finally submit it to your manager and be rewarded with “Got it, Thanks.”
Or even worse, no comment at all. 
How would you feel?
I would die a little on the inside.
Now this doesn't mean that an employee should get a standing ovation for doing what they get paid for…
But some thoughtful feedback & recognition works far better for employee morale & retention. 
If managers & other leaders award their people with recognition that they've earned they will drive substantially better results.
