This seasoned poet came to me with their poetry book manuscript in its final stages before sending it off to their publishing house.
She has published many manuscripts, but sought me out to ensure that their poetry manuscript was clean, polished, and formatted to poetry industry standards.
My Role:
I use my knowledge and experience of the poetry world to read through the manuscript with industry standard formatting in mind. This needs to be done carefully with a detail-oriented eye.
Copy edits and Proofreading:
I provided small copy edits for grammar, spelling, and catching any small mistake.
Formatting:
I provided suggestions for formatting in terms of font, page breaks, title page, etc.
Industry Standardizing:
I read the manuscript through through the lens of the industry's standards and ensured that everything aligned with the appropriate style guide.
Why me?
The author chose to work with me because I have experience in finalizing poetry manuscripts and I am well versed in what editors are looking for in terms of formatting. I am also very detailed orientated and able to catch even tiny mistakes.
Results:
The author was extremely happy with the result and her publisher was impressed with how clean the draft she turned in was.
