Blackbeard’s Revenge – Pirate-Themed Wine Label Design

This project was a custom label design for Blackbeard’s Revenge, a mead product crafted by Etowah Meadery in North Georgia. The label was required to evoke the legendary pirate Blackbeard, while incorporating complex product details and regulatory information — all within a 6x4-inch format.

Balancing a strong illustrated pirate character with legibility and layout constraints

Incorporating legally required text (ingredients, alcohol % info, government warning, etc.) without overpowering the design

Maintaining print-readiness and scalability for packaging production

Blending vintage aesthetics with modern appeal for shelf visibility

Creative Execution: I developed a bold character illustration style, matched it with hand-drawn nautical background elements, and used a muted pirate-toned palette. Typography was selected to reflect historical script while retaining modern clarity. Packaging mockups were created to help the client visualize the product in real-world settings.
