Watchly — Film Discovery & Social Recommendations

Watchly is a mobile film discovery and community app being developed as a three-person data mining project. It brings movie browsing, detailed film information and social activity into one dark interface with pink accents.

My role Developer on the Watchly project team. The project combines a React Native mobile client with a Python backend and a MovieLens-based film catalog.

Explore films Browse collections, search the catalog and explore by genre. Film details bring together MovieLens, IMDb and TMDB ratings where available, alongside watchlist, watched and personal rating controls.

Share your taste User profiles, a social feed and film recommendation posts connect film discovery with community activity. The project also includes likes, comments and saved content.

Find something to watch A “What should I watch tonight?” flow presents film suggestions and a preference quiz. The recommendation experience continues to evolve as part of the project.

Status In development for iOS and Android. Portfolio images present the current prototype in phone mockups, with the floating blue development control removed.
