Tını — Offline Turkish Dictation for Windows
Tını is an open-source desktop dictation app that turns Turkish speech into text in the selected text field. A small draggable orb stays above other applications and reacts to the user’s voice.
My role Independent developer. I built the desktop application, local speech recognition workflow and voice-reactive orb interface.
How it works Click a text field and press Ctrl + Alt + Space to start or stop dictation. After speech ends, Tını pastes the recognized text into the target field. If the target changes, the text is copied to the clipboard.
Selected features • Local Turkish speech recognition with faster-whisper and Whisper large-v3-turbo • Offline operation after the initial model download • No audio recording files, subscription or API key required • Draggable, always-on-top orb with idle, listening, speaking and writing states • Global keyboard shortcuts and cancellation controls
Technology Python · PySide6 · faster-whisper · Whisper large-v3-turbo · CUDA
Platform Windows x64 with an NVIDIA GPU and current drivers. Initial setup requires an internet connection to download dependencies and the speech model.
