10 Questions Science Could NOT Answer
Have you ever had a near-death experience and felt a sense of leaving your body? And you wonder what could be the reason. Well, you are not alone. Because science is trying to find the same.
The world we live in today is quite complex and researchers have been vital in our understanding of cause and effect. From the basis of genetic inheritance to the existence of black holes, science has come a long way in the past 2 centuries. Having said that, there are certain questions science could not answer yet.
Phenomena such as the Placebo effect, limits of human life span, and many others are above human understanding as of now. Scientists are trying to understand and answer these questions.

The Unanswered Questions

Some of these questions have been out there for centuries while some have risen in the recent past as technology has seen major progress.
Let’s have a look at some of these questions:

1. What Preceded The Big Bang

According to science, the universe came into existence as a result of rapid expansion from a hot, dense state. Often referred to as the Big Bang. While the Big Bang theory answers what happened during and after this expansion, it does not have an understanding of what was there before this event took place. This remains one of the biggest unanswered questions in science.

2. Is There Any Life Beyond Earth?

Science knows a lot about creatures living on Earth. It has little to no knowledge regarding if there are any living beings on other planets. The topic of aliens is of ultimate interest to so many people. Some believe these exist. Others don’t. Either Way, there is no clear proof of the existence of aliens or any kind of creatures out there.

3. Free Will or Determinism

This one is quite a complex one. Free Will and Determinism are the opposite of one another. The question here is if our future is predetermined by forces out of our control or not. Determinism calls free will an illusion as according to it our actions and thoughts are controlled by genetic, environmental factors, and laws of physics.

4. Is Time Travel Possible?

Time travel has been the subject of many Hollywood movies in the past. And while the concept of travelling to the past or future seems so interesting, it is still an enigma for science. Many people have claimed to be time travellers but there is no proof of that. While others confuse deja-vu with time travelling.

5. What Lies In The Deep Sea?

Of what we know about marine creatures, most of it is from the surface layers of the sea. Our knowledge of the deeper layers of the sea due to darkness and extreme water pressure makes it difficult to carry out research. Scientists are trying different ways to access the deep sea. It will be a huge progress in the research.

6. The Human Brain

As fast as it is, the human brain remains one of the most difficult organs to understand for science. There are a number of questions that have not been answered yet such as how the brain stores memories, forms emotions, and suffers from disorders like anxiety, and depression. These are not the only but the major questions.

7. The Evolution Of Language

While science has put forth hypotheses regarding the origin and evolution of language, the question of basic mechanisms and the overtime changes to language still remain unanswered.
As science has been successful in encoding complex human communication, the origins and development of it are still debated.

8. How Long Can Humans Live?

We know from scientific studies that factors like genetics, environment, and lifestyle determine how long a person lives. However, the absolute maximum age for humans is not known yet. It is the subject of current research and although current medical progress can help increase the life span, the maximum number of living years is still unanswered.

9. Why Do We Dream?

This question has been quite the centre of debate for scientists and psychologists. Although a number of hypotheses are presented, the real reason is still unknown. As the research in neuroscience progresses, it is expected to give an understanding of the process of dreaming and its role in human consciousness.

10. The Meaning Of Life

Why are we alive? What purpose do we have in this world? Does our existence make a difference? These are some of the questions related to the meaning of life that science could not answer. It is quite a personal question and individuals tend to answer it based on their experiences and belief systems.

Conclusion

The purpose of this article is not to take away anything from science and its discoveries. Rather it is to point out some of the interesting questions science could not answer. While science is able to answer complex and mind blowing phenomena, questions like Is there any life beyond earth? Why do we dream? And is time travel possible? Are still unanswered.
