A series of wars began after the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, an event known as the Nakba in Palestinian history. In this war, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were displaced from their homes and became refugees in neighboring countries.

Subsequently, the region witnessed successive wars, including the 1956 Suez Crisis, the 1967 Six-Day War in which Israel occupied the West Bank and Gaza Strip along with other Arab territories. This latter war is also known as the June setback, leading to further displacement of Palestinians.

In 1973, the region saw the October War or Yom Kippur War, an attempt by Arab states to reclaim territories lost in 1967. Despite initial successes, Israel managed to maintain control over the occupied territories.

In the following years, the conflict persisted in various forms, including the first Intifada in 1987, which was a widespread popular uprising against the Israeli occupation. This Intifada led to subsequent political negotiations and agreements such as the Oslo Accords in 1993, aimed at achieving lasting peace but failing to end the conflict.

The second Intifada in 2000 came after the failure of the peace process and growing frustration among Palestinians. This Intifada witnessed widespread violence and casualties on both sides, and the suffering of the Palestinian people increased due to blockades and closures.

In recent years, confrontations between Palestinian factions in Gaza and Israel have continued, including wars in 2008-2009, 2012, 2014, and 2021. Each war has caused widespread destruction and significant humanitarian suffering among the civilian population.

From a humanitarian perspective, repeated wars have deteriorated living conditions for Palestinians, with many suffering from shortages of food, water, electricity, and healthcare. International relief efforts and humanitarian organizations continually work to provide assistance, but the challenges remain immense.

Residents in Gaza have lived under blockade since 2007, complicating daily life and restricting movement and trade. Meanwhile, in the West Bank, residents face movement and building restrictions, as well as ongoing Israeli settlement expansion.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is one of the longest-standing conflicts in the modern world, continuing to shape the daily and political life of both Palestinian and Israeli peoples. The search for a just and lasting solution to this conflict remains a primary goal for the international community, but reaching this solution requires significant efforts and compromises from both sides.
