Illustrations for Children's Book

The Special Stripes is a children's book that teaches kids to love themselves for what makes them unique. Over the course of the book, a stray cat falls in love with another cat that has similar but opposite features to her; throughout this journey, she learns that she is looking at a reflection of herself and learns to accept her uniqueness through her new love. The front and back covers mirror each other and reveal the highlight of the story, when the cat meets her partner. Since this book was made for students to learn Spanish, I wanted the illustrations to be as expressive as possible to aid in the translation of the highlighted vocabulary. In addition to this, the colors on the spreads become brighter as the cat gets closer to finding physical and self-love.
