Boredom – Designing a Social Connection App Through Events and Smart Matching
Project Overview:
Boredom is a mobile app created to help people break out of isolation by connecting them through local events and interest-based meetups. The platform matches users with others who share similar interests and encourages real-life connections. I led the design of the entire project, from ideation to high-fidelity prototyping.
Goal & Objective:
The goal was to create a fun, user-friendly app that combats loneliness and boredom by fostering meaningful social interactions. The objective was to simplify how users find events, get matched with like-minded individuals, and make plans to meet up.
Process:
User Research: Explored user needs around loneliness, event discovery, and social interaction to shape the app’s direction.
UX Design: Mapped out user flows to ensure seamless navigation from sign-up to finding matches and joining events.
UI Design:
Designed a vibrant and engaging interface that appeals to a younger, social-driven audience.
Incorporated playful but clear visuals to keep the experience light and welcoming.
Prototyping: Built interactive prototypes to simulate real user interactions and test flows.
