Many people feel unsafe taking the public transportation by themselves late at night or in the evening. The travel buddy app aids travellers on public transport to feel more safe by connecting with each other.
I did this project at Hyper Island UX Upskill program in team of four people. The focus of this project was the design thinking process. I will take you through how we researched, analyzed the data, ideated and created low-fi wireframes.
Method
Research
We sent out a survey and talked to people to empathize with our user group. We wanted to capture users who travel by public transport to understand what makes them feel safe or unsafe. We had both quantitive questions in the survey to get statistics and free text questions to better understand the “why” behind the answers.
User needs
Define
Defined the users’ needs, their problems and challenges. Methods and tools we used were affinity diagramming, journey map and ‘how might we’s’.We defined meaningful and actionable problem statements. We landed on the problem statement:
How might we help people connect with trusted passengers to feel more safe while using public transport?
User journey map
