A walkthrough of Dreinio frontend
Dreinio is a travel discovery platform for exploring routes, places, stories and field notes, built around a calm, hand-drawn, map-inspired identity. I designed and built the entire project myself as its sole owner. What it does: Visitors browse curated routes, places, stories and field notes, plan a journey, sign in to save items, and get in touch through a contact form.
Scope: Both the frontend and the backend are complete. Only the database setup and the maps API key remain, after which the live data and maps will be connected.
Frontend (the core of the build):
A full page set: Home, Routes, Places, Stories, Field Notes, detail pages, Plan, About, Contact, Terms and Privacy
Two custom page transitions on the View Transitions API, Kinetic Reveal and Substratum, tuned separately for desktop and mobile
A mobile-specific pass with full-bleed, auto-height image and map containers, viewport-fit hero sections and a resized header
A reusable button and surface system, with fixes for sub-pixel rendering seams on real devices
Map components for route and place detail pages, built and styled, ready to go live once the maps API key is connected
Backend (Supabase):
A relational database schema, written as versioned SQL migrations, covering profiles, places, routes, stories, field notes, providers and experiences, saved items, trips and media assets
Row-level security policies and role guards to control who can read and write each table
Storage buckets for media, with a media-asset table linking uploaded files to content
Geospatial database functions to support location-based features
Edge Functions for nearby places, route planning, route-stop recalculation and content publishing, with shared CORS and client setup
Seed data and content conventions for consistent, structured content entry
Brand work: I created the logo and visual assets in Adobe Illustrator.
Stack: React, TypeScript, Vite, CSS.
