Bilateral Trade Agreements Analysis

This code was for an analysis in a paper I wrote for a course on international relations theory (Note: the UN Comtrade database has been updated since I originally ran the analysis, so the numbers are slightly different in the paper from the results below; I opted to leave both as they are for now). While I was looking at explicitly economic data (export & import volumes), the research was focused on IR institutional theory, not economic theory per se (though of course they overlap, and I usually abide happily by the dictum that everything is economics). More concretely, the question at hand was whether international trade agreements alter nations' relations significantly, or are they simply manifestations of relations already in place?
