Glitter, Poem

I found a piece of glitter
Laid out on the floor
While I was spread out beside it
Panicking deeper than I ever had before
The reason for my anxiety
Did not always have a mindful cause
But I usually tried to remain calm
& give my life a pause
I’d practice deep breaths
With a positive thought
Even though sometimes
I could feel so distraught
But when I found that piece of glitter
It gave me a happy feeling inside
It reminded me of the night
That you looked at me with pride
I had a cup of hot chocolate
Warming me up
While we strung Christmas lights
& You had your own cup
Its amazing how a simple piece of glitter
Can awaken a good flashback
Or maybe it’s just the thought of you
That always manages to pull me out of a panic attack
