Montra is a modern fintech mobile application designed to simplify how users manage, move, and understand their money. The app combines financial tracking with real-time transactions such as sending money, paying bills, and withdrawing funds

The goal was to design a mobile fintech app that balances two competing needs: speed and clarity. On one hand, users expect instant transactions—sending money, paying bills, and withdrawing funds. On the other hand, they need clear visibility into their finances to make better decisions.

The challenge was to create an experience that feels fast and effortless, while still providing meaningful financial insights without overwhelming the user.

Montra’s visual DNA: is defined by a dark, minimal interface, bold purple accents, card-based layouts, and clear typography—creating a cohesive, high-contrast design system that prioritizes clarity, usability, and modern fintech aesthetics.

I approached the problem with a simple principle: “Clarity over complexity.”

Instead of cramming features into the interface, I focused on:

Reducing friction in key actions Prioritizing essential information Designing flows that feel natural and intuitive

Every decision was guided by one question: “Can the user complete this action quickly without thinking too much?”

The experience begins with a lightweight onboarding flow that introduces the app’s core value—tracking, sending, and managing money in one place. The goal here is not to overwhelm, but to build immediate understanding and trust.

Once inside the app, users land on the dashboard, which acts as the central hub of the experience. The available balance is given the highest visual priority, followed by quick action buttons that allow users to send money, request funds, pay bills, or scan for payments. This ensures that the most common actions are always within reach.

Transaction history is placed just below, giving users instant visibility into their recent activity. This reinforces transparency and helps users stay aware of their spending without needing to navigate deeper into the app.

One of the key focuses of Montra is enabling fast and seamless transactions. The transfer flow was designed to minimize friction by breaking the process into simple, digestible steps—selecting a recipient, entering details, and confirming the transaction.

To maintain trust and security, a PIN confirmation step is introduced at the end of the flow. This adds a layer of protection while keeping the experience smooth and predictable.

While speed is critical, understanding money is equally important. The insights feature was designed to give users a clear overview of their financial behavior through visual data.

Instead of presenting raw numbers, the app uses charts and categorized breakdowns to show where money is going. This transforms financial data into something users can quickly interpret and act on.

The ability to switch between weekly, monthly, and yearly views allows users to zoom in and out of their financial patterns, creating a deeper sense of awareness and control

Designing Montra highlighted the importance of balancing functionality with simplicity. One of the key learnings was that adding features is easy—but making them feel effortless requires careful prioritization and restraint.

Looking ahead, the product could be expanded with features such as AI-driven financial insights, automated savings, and multi-currency support. These additions would deepen the value of the app while maintaining its core focus on clarity and control.

Montra is more than a finance app—it’s a tool designed to help users feel confident and in control of their money. By simplifying both transactions and insights, it creates an experience that is not only functional, but empowering.
