Problem:
Despite extensive research on both projected emissions impacts and behavioral interventions, no systematic analysis had combined these streams to quantify the real-world effectiveness of individual climate actions. This knowledge gap hindered evidence-based policy and program design.
Action:
Developed novel statistical methodology using Monte Carlo simulations to bridge disconnected research domains. Led cross-disciplinary team of 3 senior researchers and 5 research assistants through comprehensive analysis of 659 emissions impact estimates and 319 behavioral intervention studies (representing 1.4 million individuals). Created harmonized categorization system to enable cross-domain analysis. Synthesized findings into actionable recommendations for policymakers and industry leaders.
Result:
Produced first-ever quantification of "effective impact" for climate behaviors, revealing crucial 90% gap between theoretical and achieved emissions reductions. Identified four high-impact "Priority Shifts" with greater impact than common interventions. Findings presented and promoted by large international non-profit to reshape climate program design and communication strategies.
