Enhancing Youth Well-Being with Savoring & Sleep Interventions

Gordon Kraft-Todd

Problem:

Conflict-affected youth face severe sleep disturbances and emotional distress, impacting their well-being and resilience. Traditional interventions often fail to engage them meaningfully, leading to low adherence and limited impact.

Action:

Co-designed a 4-day digital savoring intervention with Ukrainian youth, integrating peer-led engagement, interactive exercises, and behavioral science techniques. Delivered through WhatsApp & Telegram, the program used memes, reminders, and sleep tracking to encourage participation. Conducted pilot testing with youth leaders to refine content and maximize engagement.

Result:

Demonstrated high engagement and feasibility of savoring-based sleep interventions. Generated actionable insights on youth engagement strategies in digital well-being programs. Findings informed future scaling efforts with War Child & AUFCR to support mental health in crisis-affected youth populations.
