Research

We started by understanding the market, competitors, and potential users. We held a series of focus groups and interviews, gathering valuable insights about users' struggles when renting cars online. We also reviewed and analyzed top-performing car rental sites to understand best practices and areas where we could innovate.

Pain Points

Through our research, we identified several pain points customers usually experience:
a. Complex Booking Process: Many customers felt that current car rental platforms had convoluted booking processes. Finding and comparing vehicles, inputting details, and navigating through add-ons often became overwhelming.
b. Hidden Costs: Users were frustrated when additional costs appeared unexpectedly during the payment process.
c. Limited Customer Support: Users felt that many car rental sites lacked efficient customer support, making it hard for them to address their queries or concerns promptly.

Designing the Solution

Addressing these pain points, we focused our design on three core principles: simplicity, transparency, and support.
a. Simplicity: We aimed to make the booking process as intuitive and straightforward as possible. Our design included a clean, user-friendly interface with clear, step-by-step instructions. Our search function allowed customers to easily find and compare different cars based on their preferences.
b. Transparency: To tackle the issue of hidden costs, all prices on TurboTrip are displayed upfront. Any additional costs, such as for extra insurance or additional drivers, are clearly explained during the booking process.
c. Robust Support: We integrated a 24/7 chatbot for instant help and created an extensive FAQ page. For more complex queries, users could reach a customer support representative via phone or email.

Conclusion

The design journey of the TCarCruiser car rental platform involved a deep understanding of customer pain points, culminating in a website that prioritizes simplicity, transparency, and robust customer support. Continual user engagement and iterative testing allowed us to refine our design to best meet customer needs.
