STURGEON BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - This is a story of neighbors helping neighbors.
Roughly thirty families are staying at the Lodge at Leathem Smith in Sturgeon Bay today after they found themselves without electricity due to the winter storm. With chilly temperatures, finding a warm place to stay is necessary.
Milan Storsic, the general manager of the hotel, says he saw Facebook posts of people in the area losing power and struggling to stay warm. He felt bad and knew he needed to help. That’s when he decided to offer up the space on a complimentary basis to those without heat.
He says he wants to give back to the community he loves. Those staying at the hotel say they’re incredibly grateful for the generosity.
“It’s really amazing to be a part of this community because there are really great people here and we’re happy to help,” said Storsic.
Rooms at the Lodge at Leathem Smith are first come, first serve.
Tonight on Action 2 News at Ten, you’ll hear from some of the families affected by the outages who are so thankful to be staying here as utility crews continue to work to restore power.
