The goal was to create a photorealistic rendering of products and packaging in 3D to help a matcha tea brand visualize its concepts before launch and later use these deliverables to market its products online.
This method was recommended as a replacement for product photography since the products and their packaging did not require complex 3D modeling which in turn is very cost and time effective.
🎨 Design Process
✦ Mood Board
✦ Brand Style Guide
As a designer a brand style guide is a vital tool as it ensures consistency, reinforces brand identity, improves efficiency, facilitates collaboration, supports scalability, and contributes to positive brand perception.
Being part of the UI/UX and design team, we created a style guide outlining the specific design systems such as elements/graphics, logo, typography, and color palettes that reflect the time/off brand and its products while adhering to their demographic of customers looking for a calming and healthy green tea.
✦ 3D Product Packaging
With the help of the mood board and the brand style guide, it was time to create and design the 3D packaging for time/off’s product line.
The goal was to represent their packaging in photo-realistic renders while adhering to the company’s vision, branding, and message.
With the help of the marketing team, we settled on two packages in a zip bag style and a tube style for their single-serving product.
✧ Rendering the final scene
The final rendering results for the tube packaging.
I used very similar steps to the tube packaging and created the more environmentally friendly zip bag product.
Both products rendered together to be used on the website's homepage and social media.
Another rendering of the two products in a different environment. This shows the flexibility of this method compared to actual product photography.
