About KidsCab
The project
KidsCab (kidcab.fr) is a school transport service in France. Parents book rides for their children, follow the car live on a map and get alerts at pickup and drop-off. I built the whole backend, the real-time tracking and the admin panel that school operators use to manage drivers and routes.
The challenge
Parents had no way to see where their children were during the school run. Schools managed drivers by phone calls, with no live tracking, no online payments and no automatic alerts when a ride was late or off route.
What I built
The complete backend API in Node.js and Express, with MongoDB through Mongoose
Live GPS tracking with Socket.IO, sending the driver's location to parents' phones in real time
An admin web panel for school operators to manage drivers, routes and bookings
Monthly subscription billing with Stripe
Automatic pickup and drop-off emails with Nodemailer
The results
Live location updates in under 1 second
1,000+ parents served across 100+ school routes
No more phone-based dispatch. Booking and scheduling are now 100% online
Tech used: Node.js, Express, MongoDB, Mongoose, Socket.IO, Stripe, Nodemailer and React Native.
