Thomson Reuters

Many ecommerce websites, including Thomson Reuters, still rely on basic keyword-based search functionality, which can lead to inaccurate search results, difficulty finding the desired product, and, ultimately, lost sales. For instance, a customer searching for "family law book" might miss out on relevant products tagged as "juvenile law book" due to the reliance on exact keyword matches. In addition to this, the look and feel of the site was to be fixed while following modern design practices while also standardizing user flow across the site. To enhance the search experience in an online store, we considered addressing the below following with strategic fixes - Keyword-Based Limitations, Neglecting Customer Data, Inefficient Navigation, Underutilized Product Recommendations, Handling No-Results Pages

Solution: Enhance Search Functionality Implementation: Adopted an intelligent search system that featured autocomplete, synonym detection, typo tolerance, and natural language processing. This advanced approach provided a deeper understanding of user queries, going beyond simple keyword matching. Impact: By implementing such a comprehensive search system, similar to the improvements seen with other large ecommerce site that fixed their Search Pages, a significant reduction in failed searches was seen on the Thomson Reuters Canada Store Search Page too. This led to improved user experience, higher customer satisfaction, and increased conversions, ultimately driving sales and revenue growth QoQ
