Delving into the world of science 💥

Science is supposed to be for nerds, or that's what I thought. I've always loved learning about new developments in science and rambling on and on for hours. It could be about any sub-field of science, not necessarily anything specific.

During my undergraduate days, I used to write articles for our university newsletter and even had the opportunity to lead the editorial team for a year. Fast forward to a year after I graduated and I thought, why not combine my love for science & writing into one creative outlet?

Lo and behold, we have Musings of a Boffin now! 🚀



So, what is my process like?

Science is not an easy field to communicate primarily because of the technicalities associated with it. There are many developments in science, so I start with a trending topic that I see or something I've always wanted to explore 💫

I read about it and break it down into bite-sized pieces for my audience. This can involve a short background of the topic or setting the mood using a hook and then delving into it further. You can see a snippet of slides I've done on my Instagram below. 📸



Honing my creative side 🖨

In my free time, I built my own WordPress website and have been consistently writing on anything from physics to cell biology (with a specific bias to Microbiology 😉). All these articles required a great amount of research, strategizing, and creating creative content that people would like.

I've honed my skills in writing but in addition to that, I've also channeled my inner designer. While I'm not extremely proficient with complex design tools, I can create eye-catching designs using Canva!



How does it help you? ✒

This project was my leeway into the world of content writing and content marketing. I've been able to hone my writing skills and designing skills over the past year. I've also managed to learn the best practices for Search Engine Optimisation through the use of Yoast SEO. While I'm still learning, I'm constantly training myself in the use of SEO tools to improve my website.
