The challenge? Finding fun activities - karting, hiking, soccer - with friends is often frustrating. Either no one is available, or there’s no easy way to see what’s happening nearby.

Rolezou is a social event discovery app designed to make finding and joining activities effortless. Users can browse an interactive map to explore events happening nearby in real-time.

They can also see where their friends are going, making it easier to plan meetups. Whether it's a public event or a private gathering, Rolezou provides an easy way to connect, join, and enjoy activities.

As part of a small team, I was responsible for the entire backend, infrastructure, and a large part of the mobile app.

My contributions included:

Developing the REST API, including endpoints for creating, managing, and browsing events and users

Building the mobile app, ensuring code is performant and user interfaces are intuitive and easy to use

Integrating Google Maps, allowing users to easily explore and navigate nearby events on the mobile app

Implementing authentication using JWT, securing user access and data.

Designing and optimizing the database with PostgreSQL to ensure fast and reliable data handling

Deploying and managing the infrastructure on Linode for scalability and stability.
