I’m so excited to share that I landed my first freelance client today! 🥳
After months of nervously pitching myself, getting ghosted, hearing crickets, and nearly giving up more than once…
I finally landed a monthly retainer client through Instagram.
If you’re trying to start freelancing but can’t seem to get clients yet, here’s what actually worked for me 👇
🔍 Identify pain points:
Understand the real struggles of your target clients so you can offer a no-brainer solution.
📣 Pitch within your niche:
Every week, reach out to small businesses in your niche with a personalized, low-risk offer.
I use Instagram and LinkedIn — but depending on your niche, another platform might work better.
🤝 Network intentionally:
Don’t just pitch strangers. Build relationships with both potential clients and other freelancers in your space.
Engage with people before pitching. It helps you stand out as genuine.
💬 Follow up fearlessly:
This one’s huge. I used to think following up was pushy or annoying… until it got me my first client.
Here’s what she told me:
“I get so many spam messages — your follow-up made me realize you were a real person.”
That message changed how I view outreach.
Bottom line: following up isn’t annoying — it’s necessary.
Persistence is what separates freelancers who get clients from those who give up too soon.
