Project Overview
A healthcare firm in SA sought expert AWS system administration to enhance the performance, security, and scalability of their cloud infrastructure. The client's infrastructure supported critical healthcare applications, electronic medical records (EMRs), and data analytics platforms, requiring a highly secure and compliant AWS environment tailored to meet stringent healthcare regulations.

Ensure uninterrupted performance of healthcare applications.
Implement robust security measures to comply with HIPAA and other regional healthcare regulations.
Optimize AWS infrastructure for cost efficiency and scalability.
Enhance monitoring and disaster recovery capabilities.
My Role
As the AWS System Administrator, I worked closely with the client's IT team to:
Architect a Scalable Infrastructure:
Designed and deployed a multi-tier architecture using Amazon EC2, Elastic Load Balancers (ELB), and RDS.
Leveraged Auto Scaling Groups to handle variable workloads.
Ensure Regulatory Compliance:
Configured secure S3 buckets with access logging, encryption (SSE-S3), and lifecycle policies.
Implemented Identity and Access Management (IAM) roles and policies for least-privilege access.
Deployed AWS Shield and WAF to protect against DDoS attacks and enhance data security.
Optimize Costs:
Identified unused resources and optimized EC2 instances using AWS Trusted Advisor.
Integrated Reserved Instances and Savings Plans to reduce operational costs.
Strengthen Monitoring & Recovery:
Deployed CloudWatch for performance monitoring and configured alarms for critical metrics.
Implemented AWS Backup for automated, encrypted backups of RDS and EBS volumes.
Set up disaster recovery with cross-region replication for S3 and RDS databases.
Automate Processes:
Used AWS Lambda and Step Functions to automate routine administrative tasks, such as log analysis and backup validation.
