Taste the City is a custom web app for people to browse and book tastings in various Canadian (mostly) cities. Tastings are composed of a series of restaurant stops to try out dishes and meals. My role in the project UX/UI Designer Product Manager Project Manager Visual Designer Launch date June 2023 Since launch my team and I have added and refined features including walkless tastings (a single location where all the dishes are served instead of tasters having to walk from stop to stop). Tools I used Figma and Adobe Illustrator
Outcome • My client won the Queen's Entrepreneurship Award in 2024 for this app. • The app generated over $100K in revenue in its first year. • My client was on Dragon's Den in May 2025 and may air in the fall. She can't tell me what happened!
My process includes creating lofi mockups based on the requirements and flow charts. I work with clients to define their requirements so I can create a list of actionable requirements to translate into features and mockups. I share the lofi mockups with the client, get feedback, and iterate. Once approved, I create hifi mockups that use branding colours, photography, and real content.

This is where folks will make their booking. We integrated the app with Stripe so transactions route through there once the user hits the Checkout button.

This is the backend admin panel where my client and her team creates all the parts of a tasting.

Not only do I need to make pretty UIs but I need to make sure there is a functional system in place so the app actually works. I need to make sure that people can navigate from page to page intuitively. I also need to determine how all the elements of the app need to harmonize to function. In the admin panel, I had to sort out how to break down tastings and create a system where my client can add things like restaurants, cities, etc and how they all relate to each other to create listings, stops, etc.

Select mobile screens. Once a customer has made a booking they will get some automated texts confirming the booking and reminding them of the upcoming date. On the day of the tasting, a series of texts will guide them through the various stops and introduce dishes.
