Lede

Updating the resume for the 21st century.

Lede’s goal was to identify the pain points a candidate experiences when looking for a job. The one-page, paper/PDF resume was one of the biggest issues. My approach focused on creating a visual representation of an individual’s career history in the form of a timeline—an attractive hero’s journey every candidate would love to show off.
The timeline resolved a number of existing resume UX issues immediately. It reduced space, allowed for more content, and became a catalog of events that could be organized either chronologically or categorically with a single click. Events could then be selected to reveal more traditional information on the right half of the screen. The timeline also allowed for highlighting other non-traditional life experiences that help portray a candidate’s complete history. The job gap is a poor metric of a candidate’s value in the workplace, and the introduction of the timeline gives candidate’s a canvas to show off a more accurate display of their skill sets and personal accomplishments.
The example above shows off the Storyboard. The dynamic Storyboard feature was the solution to the restrictive nature of existing one-page resumes. The Storyboard’s default view is displayed on the right half of the screen but can be expanded to full-screen in order to better display digital works. These works could include any number of images, written content, code, embedded applications, or hyperlinks to additional works.
