The Collaboration

This was not a one-time project.
Over the course of an ongoing creative partnership, I handled the complete post-production for a growing body of digital content for Saffet Kaya Architects.
Each piece was built on a foundation of deep research, close collaboration with the architect and the hosting teams, and a genuine effort to understand the vision before a single edit was made.
The goal was always the same:
To ensure that the final output reflected the depth, integrity, and global standing of the practice.

The Body of Work

01 — The Architect Documentary

"A Life Built Between Cities"

The starting point of the entire brand.
This is a 6-minute cinematic documentary about the life, philosophy, and global journey of Architect Saffet Kaya Bekiroğlu.
There was no script.
What existed was a rough creative direction, a simple explanation of the vision, and hours of raw footage — conversations, reflections, and personal insights captured organically.
My process began long before the timeline was opened.
I spent significant time researching the architect's portfolio, his influences, the architectural movements he was part of, and the cities that shaped his perspective. I also had close conversations with the architect himself to understand the feeling he wanted to communicate — not just the facts, but the spirit behind them.
From that research, I built the narrative from the ground up.
The documentary moves through four natural chapters:
The Dream From Cyprus to UCLA — the early decision to pursue architecture at an international level and what that journey meant personally and professionally.
The Mentorship Years spent at Frank Gehry Associates and Zaha Hadid Architects — absorbing world-class design thinking and learning how to realize ambitious ideas in the physical world.
The Identity Living and working between London, Istanbul, and Cyprus — and how each city contributed something irreplaceable to his architectural perspective.
The Change The philosophy that ties everything together:
"With my architecture, I would like to underline that architecture can contribute to your life and your mood. It matters. I like doing projects which actually have the capability of doing the change."
My Role: Post-Production • Narrative Research • Editorial Direction • Cinematic Editing • Music Selection & Integration

02 — The Award-Winning Building Film

"The Science of Space" CIU Science & Technology Center, Cyprus

Following the documentary, the collaboration continued with a dedicated film about one of the firm's most technically ambitious completed projects — the CIU Science and Technology Center in Cyprus.
A building later honored with the Building Award at the 15th TurkishSMD Architecture Awards.
Once again, there was no script.
The starting point was a simple brief and a collection of raw footage. My role was to research the building deeply — its technical systems, its design philosophy, its relationship to the landscape — and shape that material into something that communicated both the intelligence and the beauty of the project.
I studied the building's BIPV photovoltaic panels, its thermal chimney ventilation system, its unique response to the Cyprus climate, and the reasoning behind each façade's individual character — so that the edit could explain these elements clearly without ever feeling like a lecture.
The film was shaped around three movements:
Context Establishing the building within the landscape of Cyprus and the Kyrenia mountain range — place before architecture.
Intelligence Showing how the building responds to its environment — light, heat, ventilation — as a living, breathing system.
Philosophy Arriving at the idea that the building is not just technically advanced. It is a statement.
"Our architecture celebrates the intermarriage of Art and Science."
My Role: Post-Production • Technical Research • Editorial Direction • Cinematic Editing • Award Context Positioning • Sound Design

03 — The Long-Form Conversation

"Straight Talk Ep.99" In Conversation with Architect Saffet Kaya Bekiroğlu Property Turkey

The most demanding piece of the collaboration.
Property Turkey — one of the most established real estate and lifestyle media platforms in the region — produced a long-form interview with Architect Saffet Kaya Bekiroğlu as part of their Straight Talk series.
I was brought in to handle the full post-production.
The Starting Point
There was no script, no shot list, and no predetermined structure.
What I received was over ten hours of raw footage — a wide-ranging conversation covering decades of career, multiple continents, award-winning projects, design philosophy, and the future of the practice.
My first step was not to edit. It was to listen, research, and understand.
I went through every hour of footage carefully, making notes on the key moments, the most insightful reflections, and the natural flow of ideas. In parallel, I researched the buildings, the offices, the cities, and the architectural movements discussed — so I could make informed editorial decisions about what deserved emphasis and what could be distilled.
I also stayed in close communication with both the host and the architect throughout the process — checking in on the intended feeling, aligning on the expectations, and ensuring the final result felt true to both the conversation and the brand.
The Narrative Structure
From that research and collaboration, I built the episode around four clear authority pillars:
The Foundation Frank Gehry, UCLA, and the formative years — establishing how his design thinking was shaped by exposure to some of the most ambitious architecture of his generation.
The Global Legacy Zaha Hadid Architects, London, Baku — the projects and experiences that brought international recognition to his work.
The Innovation The CIU Science & Technology Center — a deep dive into what it means to design a building that is technically advanced, contextually sensitive, and humanly meaningful.
The Vision The future of the practice — where the architect sees architecture heading and what role he intends to play in shaping it.
Key Moments That Anchored the Edit:
"Architecture is a social catalyst — it puts cities on the map."
"Good design doesn't mean expensive — it is a certain touch, a certain expertise, that makes spaces make people feel something."
"I want to look back after a few years and say — we built and designed this."
My Role: Post-Production • Raw Footage Research & Review • Archival Footage Sourcing • Editorial Direction • Collaboration with Host & Architect • Narrative Structuring

The Through Line

Every piece of content produced for Saffet Kaya Architects began in the same place:
A conversation. A rough idea. Hours of raw material.
And every time, the process was the same — deep research, close collaboration, and a genuine commitment to understanding the vision before shaping it into something the world could experience.
The result is a body of work that reflects not just what the practice has built, but who is behind it — and why that matters.
