After the success of the architect’s personal bio film, we continued our collaboration to create a cinematic short film for the CIU Science and Technology Center — a project later awarded at the 15th Turkish SMD Architecture Awards.
The goal was clear:
Position the building not just as a structure, but as a symbol of innovation, sustainability, and architectural intelligence.
THE CHALLENGE
The project was highly technical:
Photovoltaic cladding panels
Smart façade systems
Solar chimneys
Automated ventilation
16,000 m² of laboratories and classrooms
The risk?
It could easily feel like a technical documentary.
The mission was to transform complex engineering into cinematic clarity and emotional impact.
MY ROLE
• Creative Direction
• Narrative Structuring
• Technical-to-Emotional Translation
• Cinematic Editing & Music Integration
• Authority Positioning
THE STRATEGY
Instead of listing features, we structured the film around three pillars:
1. Context
Opening with Cyprus’ landscape and the Kyrenia mountain range to ground the building.
2. Intelligence
Showing how each façade responds differently to climate — solar gain, ventilation, light control.
3. Philosophy
Ending on the idea that architecture is the intermarriage of Art and Science.
This elevated the project from "sustainable building" to award-level architectural thinking.
THE OUTCOME
The Science & Technology Center was deemed worthy of the
Building Award at the 15th Turkish SMD Architecture Awards.
The film became a strategic brand asset:
Strengthening the architect’s authority
Supporting award recognition
Elevating institutional credibility
Showcasing innovation in a visually compelling way
Most importantly, it reinforced long-term collaboration between us.
