Indigo Health, a healthcare innovation consultancy, frequently employs the Design Sprint methodology to rapidly develop and test various digital products. Recognizing the need to streamline the prototype development process across multiple projects, it became evident that starting from scratch for each product was time-consuming and inefficient. Thus, the decision to develop a design system was made to systematize and facilitate the workflow.

As it was my first experience with developing a Design System from start to finish, it was important to do a extensive desk research of good practices and benchmark some good examples. The Meiuca's course was a key part of the process, as it gave me the opportunity to learn from specialists and make connections that had the same challenge.

The primary challenge was the diverse nature of the digital products being developed, which required a flexible yet consistent design system. The development process began with a thorough analysis of common elements across past projects to identify reusable components. This system aimed to not only accelerate the design process but also ensure consistency in the user experience across different products.

The creating of the Design System on Figma, documenting all the "atoms": fonts, colors, opacity levels, border radius etc. significantly reduced the time spent on prototyping and ensured a cohesive user experience across all digital products.

The usage of smart features and components at Figma allowed designers at Indigo Health to quickly adapt and customize designs without starting from zero, improving efficiency and productivity.
