My client’s early stage startup was in trouble. They had burned through much of the investment capital and promised their potential customers the product would be available shortly. Unfortunately, they did not have a lot of experience managing a development team and progress on their product had stalled. I was brought in as Technical Advisor to assess the situation and get their product release back on track. Decisiveness was imperative to produce a new release date that could be with customers.
I started by speaking directly with the development team which was based in Pakistan and 10-11 hours ahead of the client and myself. After speaking with the team and my own analysis I was able to break the situation down to four problems to be solved. I found a new development team. I signed them to a 1 week contract to solve major bugs as a vetting test. They exceeded expectations.
We spent 10 days negotiating a 3 month contract to redesign and modernize the client's frontend and backend systems. The client signed with the new development team. A recently checked on them and they appear to be on-track to release on schedule.
