Background & Challenge
EngagementFit, a corporate wellness provider, had invested in an offshore team to build their digital platform. Unfortunately, the end product was unstable and nearly unusable. Critical issues included monolithic files over 100,000 lines long, no search functionality, no reusable components, and migration challenges between CodeIgniter 3 and 4. This left the system fragile, error-prone, and unable to scale.
Platform Refactor & Migration: Cleaned up massive legacy files, rebuilt them into modular, reusable components, and completed the migration to CodeIgniter 4.
Frontend Upgrade: Modernized the UI with Bootstrap 5, DataTables, and Chart.js, creating a responsive and visually appealing user experience.
Authentication & Notifications: Added one-time PINs for secure logins and integrated AWS SES for email communications.
New Admin Dashboard: Developed a robust dashboard with fine-grained role-based permissions, subscription and payment handling, user event tracking, and custom support features.
Reporting & Exports: Integrated Chart.js visualizations with PDF and image export, giving managers professional, shareable reports.
Results & Impact
The refactor transformed EngagementFit’s platform from nearly unmanageable to a scalable, secure system. Clients could now onboard employees, manage roles, track wellness engagement, and generate actionable reports with confidence. The platform became a reliable foundation for the company’s corporate wellness services.
