I discovered Rive last year and decided to try my hand at animation. I had previous experience with vector graphics but no animation experience.
First though, I needed an image to trace for the vector. I generated this cute fox in Midjourney and got to work.
Created with Midjourney
Initially I created the fox using Rive's built-in vector tool, but I was not happy with how my first attempt animated (I was not considering node structure at the time).
I decided to start over, but since I didn't enjoy Rive's vector tools, I created the vector in Affinity Designer and imported it into Rive.
Vectorized Fox
As you can see, I stuck fairly close to my reference, but cleaned up some of the shadows and gradients, and added hind feet and a proper tail.
