Overview

A mobile puzzle game app designed to make word learning fun and engaging for kids. The goal was to create an intuitive, colorful interface that keeps young users entertained while building vocabulary and spelling skills.

The Challenge

Educational apps for children need to strike a balance between being genuinely fun and delivering real learning value. The interface has to be simple enough for kids to navigate independently, while the game mechanics need to keep them coming back.

Design Approach

Researched existing word puzzle games to identify UX patterns that work well for younger audiences
Created user flows focused on minimal friction: kids should be able to start playing within seconds of opening the app
Designed a bright, playful visual language with large touch targets and clear feedback for correct and incorrect answers
Built interactive prototypes in Figma to test game flow and timing
Used Miro for early-stage wireframing and ideation

Key Screens

Onboarding and level selection
Core gameplay interface with drag-and-drop letter tiles
Progress tracking and reward screens
