Context

Popoyo is a remote surf town on the Nicaraguan Pacific coast — wild, beautiful, and almost entirely off the grid. María Costa is one of the few licensed architects working in that territory, designing and building projects that are deeply rooted in the local landscape and lifestyle.
Her work was known only by word of mouth. In a town with almost no local competition, the real opportunity was reaching the people who couldn't find her — foreign investors, surfers, and travelers dreaming of building a boutique hotel, a B&B, or a home in one of Central America's last untouched coastlines.
She had no website. We changed that.

What I found

When we sat down for the first time, two things became immediately clear. First, María had an exceptional portfolio of photography — high quality, atmospheric images that captured the texture and soul of her projects. Second, she had a strong, unmistakable aesthetic: raw materials, organic shapes, architecture that belongs to its context rather than imposing on it.
The challenge wasn't creating something from scratch. It was building a container worthy of what she already had — and making sure the right people could find it.

Process

The creative process was unusually fluid. María gave me significant creative freedom and we aligned on the aesthetic direction quickly — warm, organic, visually led, with a pace that lets the photography breathe.

A month after launch, I moved the project carousel directly to the homepage, eliminating a step and reducing the cognitive load for first-time visitors. More direct access, less friction.

Goals

A key design decision was building a dedicated Investments & Developments page — a section specifically aimed at foreign investors considering building in the region. This page explains what it means to build in Popoyo: the process, the context, the opportunity. It functions as a soft sales tool for a very specific audience, and it's the highest-converting page on the site.
