TradeYourAmp: Power Trading Automation Platform

Power trading operations face six critical challenges that cost time, money, and compliance risk:

1. Manual Bid Processing Bottlenecks — Traders were placing bids manually across multiple exchanges, creating delays in a market where seconds matter. Human error in bid entry compounded the risk.

2. Fragmented Exchange & Client Interactions — Communication between power exchanges and clients was scattered across emails, spreadsheets, and disconnected tools. No single source of truth existed for trade status.

3. Regulatory Compliance Risks — Without centralized audit trails and automated compliance checks, firms were exposed to regulatory penalties. Tracking obligations manually across hundreds of trades was unsustainable.

4. No Real-Time Visibility — Traders lacked live dashboards showing portfolio status, active positions, and P&L. Decision-making relied on stale data pulled from multiple systems.

5. Fragmented Financial Operations — Invoicing, settlement tracking, and financial reporting lived in separate tools. Reconciliation was manual and error-prone.

6. Client Coordination Difficulties — Managing client relationships, trade allocations, and reporting required constant back-and-forth with no structured workflow.

TradeYourAmp is a comprehensive trading automation platform that solves all six challenges in one centralized interface. I designed and built the platform end-to-end, from product strategy and UX research through to the production application.

Conducted user research with power traders to map their daily workflows, pain points, and decision-making patterns across each of the six challenge areas

Designed the full information architecture: real-time dashboards, automated bid management flows, financial reporting modules, compliance tracking, and client management tools

Created a component-based design system in Figma with tokens, variants, and responsive layouts optimized for data-dense trading interfaces

Prioritized real-time data visibility so traders can see portfolio status, active bids, and P&L at a glance without switching contexts

Built the frontend in Angular with a modular component architecture handling complex, real-time data visualizations and interactive trading tables

Developed the backend API layer with Python and FastAPI, optimized for low-latency data processing critical to trading operations

Designed and implemented the PostgreSQL database schema for trading data, financial records, compliance audit trails, and client relationship management

Integrated AWS SQS message queuing for reliable, asynchronous processing of bid submissions, trade notifications, and compliance alerts

The Dashboard — Power traders need to absorb a lot of information quickly. I designed a layout with clear visual hierarchy: critical metrics at the top, active positions in the center, and detailed breakdowns accessible through progressive disclosure. Color coding maps directly to trading states (active, pending, settled, flagged) so traders can scan status without reading labels.

Automated Bid Processing — The bid placement flow was stripped down to the minimum viable steps. Every extra click in a trading interface is a liability when markets move fast. Automated validation catches errors before submission, eliminating the manual bottleneck.

Compliance by Design — Rather than bolting compliance on as an afterthought, I built audit trails and regulatory checks directly into every trading workflow. Every action is logged, timestamped, and traceable.

Unified Financial View — Invoicing, settlements, and P&L reporting were consolidated into a single financial module with automated reconciliation, replacing the spreadsheet patchwork.

TradeYourAmp replaced fragmented, manual workflows with a single automated platform covering the full power trading lifecycle: bid placement, exchange interactions, compliance tracking, real-time analytics, financial operations, and client coordination. The platform provides real-time insights, enhances operational efficiency, and ensures regulatory compliance, all built for the speed and complexity of energy markets.
