Project Overview

Working in my capacity as principal designer at a Chicago-based agency, I designed a presentation in Keynote to showcase the agency's product work with a Fortune 500 airline live at Figma Config 2024. With over 6000+ live attendees and more online, I worked to make sure the slides were visually engaging by using sophisticated transitions using a combination of built-in Keynote animations and custom motion work in AfterEffects.

Above and Beyond

When I was working with one of the presenters for this slide, she mentions working with a client that had their offices in a very notable building in Chicago. To visualize her story in the impactful way possible, I took it upon myself to visit the building and took a photo so that later on I could create a build transition that covered all the beats of the story.

Attention to Detail

In this section of the presentation, one of the presenters was speaking on how they categorize their design systems as "above the wing" and "below the wing". I thought it would be more engaging to visualize it literally so I illustrated one of their airplanes and used various transitions to show which design system was being discussed.

Fluid Transitions

Something I love to do is use transitions as a storytelling visual to show how elements relate to each other. In this example, I start by visualizing the three high level elements and zoom out to show how else they relate to other factors occurring in parallel. Then I took one element, and zoomed all the way into a migration timeline to show those steps.

Saying Thanks

Given this was a Figma conference, one of the presenters thought of an idea to show the multi-cursors displaying the names of all the special people involved in the project. I took it one step further and animated the cursors in AfterEffects and even re-created the high five animation that's now iconic in FigJam.
