I've found a love of blogging this year and I have so many ideas for what sort of posts I want to write.
When the inspiration hit, I took a deep dive into my experience of growing up as a mixed-race person in a predominately white community and what that meant for my relationship with my hair.
It was vulnerable, yet extremely cathartic for me to write.
Plus a fun way to flex my writing muscles.
The results
A blog post rich with:
👩🏽 Humanity: This blog is raw and tapped into the beauty of human emotions. I wanted other people in my situation to feel heard and from the responses I got, I think they did.
👩🏽💻 Research: I shared the products that I love and threw myself into my archive of decades-old photos to enhance the blog post and increase relatability.
😁 Humour: We all have those photos, we were all teenagers once. With a sprinkle of self-depreciation, I gave my readers a giggle at my hair failures.
✌🏽 Advice: It took me years to get my hair to the point it's at now, I didn't want my readers to feel dismayed so I gave them actionable steps to follow.
