In conclusion,
as critical-thinking professionals in CPS, our potential for transforming the
social, political, and economic environment to be more productive and
responsive to the needs of clients, their families, and their communities
extends beyond traditional micro-level interventions. By engaging in macro,
mezzo, and micro-level approaches, we can work towards creating positive change
in the communities we serve. Through advocacy, policy-related efforts,
collaboration with other stakeholders, and strengths-based, culturally
responsive direct practice, we can promote social justice, empower families,
and prevent child abuse and neglect. As social workers in CPS, we have a unique
opportunity to view the community as our client and utilize our critical
thinking skills to create a more just and equitable environment for vulnerable
children and their families. It is only by understanding how macro, mezzo and
micro-level social work is interconnected we will be able to approach
complex and multifaceted issues effectively with our clients and communities.
