Generali Indonesia mConnect

Skenario

Skenario Bagus

I contributed to the development of mConnect, a mobile application (iOS & Android) for Generali Indonesia’s agents. The app was designed to simplify policy reporting and provide quick, user-friendly access to daily information, supported by a design system based on Google’s Material Design. ✨ Role: UI / UX Designer 🧩 Total Features: 14 📅 Year: 2019 - 2020 ✅ Status: Completed 🛠️ Tools: Figma, Adobe XD, Zeplin

Background 👀

Generali Indonesia, managed by PT Asuransi Jiwa Generali Indonesia, is one of the leading life insurance companies in the country. The company offers a wide range of insurance products, with iPLAN as one of its flagship solutions trusted by many policyholders.

Problem

Generali has thousands of agents across Indonesia, yet there is no dedicated application that effectively supports their daily activities. Agents still rely heavily on laptops to work efficiently. When attempting to use smartphones, the existing web portal often faces issues such as frequent disconnections, inaccurate data, and very slow response times, making it difficult for agents to perform their tasks smoothly.

Solution

To address these challenges, a mobile application compatible with both iOS and Android was developed. Designed specifically for agents’ daily needs, the app enables them to easily access essential features and information anytime, anywhere. With a user-friendly interface and relevant functionalities, the application improves efficiency, simplifies reporting processes, and provides a more seamless experience for agents of all age groups.

Process

For this project, I applied a 5-step design process that kept me more focused and structured in creating an effective and efficient application. The process includes:
Empathize – Identifying user needs and conducting user research.
Define – Defining the core problems and mapping the user journey.
Ideate – Creating information architecture and user flows.
Design – Developing the style guide, wireframes, prototypes, and visual design.
Test – Conducting usability testing to validate the solution’s ease of use.

User Research

I conducted an analysis and collaborated with Generali’s internal team to identify the target users who will be using this application.

Information Architecture

Having detailed information about each feature to be developed was very helpful in minimizing the amount of dummy data presented to users.

Product Successes 👏

The mConnect application has significantly simplified the process for agents across Indonesia to report policies. It also enables them to monitor other tasks quickly, without long waiting times or the need to reopen their laptops.

What I Learned 🌱

This project was my first experience in the UI/UX field, and through it I gained a deeper understanding of design systems that support long-term maintenance. In this application, I applied Google’s Material Design guidelines, which make the product easier to understand, maintain, and hand off to other designers or developers in the future
