Velvet Shaker: Framer development of a cocktail bar website template

Velvet Shaker is a website template for bars and cocktail lounges, designed by a template studio. We built it in Framer from their designs, so the bar owner who buys it can change every page without code.
Client: A template studio · Industry: Website templates, bars and nightlife · What we did: Framer development · Platform: Framer · Timeline: May 2025 to January 2026 · Live: velvet-shaker.framer.website

About the client

The studio designs and sells website templates. Velvet Shaker is one of them: a template for bars, cocktail lounges and nightlife venues, sold on the Framer marketplace. The bar on the page, a cocktail bar in Lan Kwai Fong, Hong Kong, is demo content, not a real business.

The challenge

A bar template has to sell a mood on the first screen and still be simple for a bar owner to edit.
Atmosphere first. The design is black and cream with oversized display type, and it had to look exactly as drawn once it was in Framer.
Many kinds of content. Drinks, occasions, the bar’s story, events and contact details all share one home page and had to read as one story.
A menu people can use. The drinks list had to be real, editable text, not a picture of a menu.
Edits without a developer. A buyer has to swap drinks, events and photos on their own.

What we did

Built the editorial home page

Built the full-bleed cocktail photo hero, with the bar’s location and opening hours on the first screen.
Numbered every section, 01 to 06, from About to Contact, with the same small “//” label above each one.
Built the Our Story section as a split layout: text next to bar photography.

Made the drinks list interactive

Built Selected Drinks as an expandable list. Peach Blossom, Lavender Mist, Mint Cloud and the rest each open to show their ingredients.
Built a full Menu page in three groups, Cocktails, Wines and Snacks, each item with a short description.
Ended the menu with a “Can’t find your drink?” prompt that points visitors to the bar’s mixologists.

Gave events and occasions a place

Built the Occasions section as three cards: Romantic, Business and Parties, each with its own photo and short pitch.
Set up the “What’s happening” events feed on the Framer CMS. Each event, like a wine tasting or a new menu night, gets its own page.
Built the inner pages: About, Menu, Gallery, FAQ, Contact, Blog and a privacy policy.

Kept the mood on phones

Built the desktop and phone layouts, keeping the dark photos and big type on small screens.
Added scroll-triggered transitions to the hero and the sections below it.

Scope

Included:
Framer development of the template from the studio’s designs.
Eight site pages: Home, About, Menu, Gallery, FAQ, Contact, Blog and Privacy Policy.
The template’s own pages: a sales page, a style guide, licences and a changelog.
CMS set-up for the events and blog posts.
Desktop and phone layouts, with scroll animations.
Not included:
The visual design. The studio designed the template; we built it.
A real bar. The bar, drinks and events are sample content for template buyers.
Listing and selling. The studio sells the template on the Framer marketplace.

Results

The template is live as a Framer preview, and the studio sells it on the Framer marketplace.
It ships with 12 pages and 8 sample event posts in the CMS.
A buyer can change drinks, events, photos and opening hours in Framer without writing code.

What we’d improve next

Add a reservations form. A booking form on the Contact page, linked from the Occasions cards, would let a bar take table requests from day one.
Add an events calendar. Show upcoming nights by date, so a bar with a weekly programme can fill the feed and visitors can plan ahead.
Add a second colour style. A lighter variant in the style guide would open the template to wine bars and cafés.

Working on something similar?

I design websites in Figma and build them in Framer or Webflow, so your team can edit every page without a developer. Message me here on Contra with your site or Figma file, and I’ll reply with a plan and a fixed price.
