HappyMe is a mental wellness app designed to help users relax, refocus, and manage stress throughout their day. I was brought on to design and animate three ambient background sequences and one guided eye movement therapy animation that bring calm and flow to the app experience.
Objective
The goal was to create subtle yet expressive animations that visually represent different times of day, helping users feel emotionally in tune as they navigate the app. The project also included a specialized animation for Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT), which required precise and soothing motion design to guide users through therapeutic exercises.
Deliverables
🌅 Sunrise animation - subtle background animation for home screen for early day
🌞 Midday animation - subtle background animation for home screen for midday
🌙 Night-time animation - subtle background animation for home screen for night-time
I began by analyzing HappyMe’s brand visuals and identifying how motion could enhance the user journey. Using Adobe After Effects and Lottie, I developed lightweight animations that preserved both quality and performance.
Each scene was tested for smooth looping, minimal distraction, and consistent visual rhythm. I collaborated closely with the client, iterating on timing and color balance based on their feedback. This agile process ensured that every animation felt cohesive and emotionally resonant.
Outcome
The final animations integrated seamlessly into the app’s interface, enhancing the mood and user engagement across different times of day. The client was very pleased with the results and appreciated the timely delivery and responsiveness to feedback.
