In 2021 I was approached by the Nova Scotia Community College Academic Union who were looking for a local artist to create a design for their retirement cards. This year's set of retirement celebrations were especially poignant since it had been a hard year, dealing with the sudden switch to online learning models and new technologies.

Using the Union's logo as inspiration (a set of points mimicking the geographical layout of the College's many campuses throughout the province), I created this design. Mayflowers - the traditional flower of Nova Scotia and a symbol for NSCC - bloom across the province at the points where campuses are located. The flora branches out to surrounding areas, representing the local outreach and community impact of NSCC employees and students.

Initially designed for a greeting card medium, the team at the NSCCAU offices liked it so much they decided to hang another, larger version in their offices.
