A brilliantly crafted tech solution to this problem in the pharmacology industry

The Problem

Ever wondered how your genes affect your response to different medications? With the rise of genetic testing services like 23&Me and Ancestry.com, people now have unprecedented access to their genetic data. This opens the door to personalized health insights, particularly in understanding how your unique genetic makeup might interact with various drugs and treatments. However, until now, there hasn't been a straightforward way to explore this connection. Enter this web-based application: a user-friendly tool that lets you upload your genetic information directly from Ancestry or 23&Me. Once uploaded, it generates a comprehensive table highlighting any known drug interactions specific to your genetic profile. It's like having a personalized guide to safer and more effective medication use, right at your fingertips!

Technical Description

App to interpret pharmacogenomic data by pulling resources from a variety of databases, creating custom interpretation fields, and generating both an API and PDF endpoint.
This Flask app accepts a JSON with patient genetic data and cross-references it against the CPIK and PharmaGKB databases to get the most up-to-date guidelines via their APIs. Then the guidelines are presented and the user can select which one to trust.
