I had the opportunity to serve as the Founding Designer at Mailum, a privacy-focused mailbox platform with over 50k users and around 200 daily visitors(2023 metrics). Over the course of nearly three years, I partnered directly with the founder and a single frontend engineer to shape the product from its earliest version through Version 3.

My role spanned end-to-end product design, visual identity, and continuous refinement. I conducted a full heuristic evaluation to identify usability gaps, built the UI Kit and Style Guide, redesigned more than 20+ sections, and ultimately re-architected and redesigned the entire platform — including the marketing website, mailbox interface, and new features introduced in later versions.

A significant milestone in the third version was the introduction of the Calendar product, which required a major information-architecture shift to integrate seamlessly with the existing mailbox environment. Designing this system so it felt native and cohesive across the ecosystem became one of the most meaningful parts of the work.

Beyond UI/UX, I owned Design QA, visual asset creation, web design, and branding, ensuring the product shipped exactly as intended. Throughout the collaboration, I worked closely with the developer to deliver pixel-perfect implementation and to iterate quickly on improvements. I also handled competitor benchmarking and explored user-need research to shape upcoming features.

Being part of Mailum from its first version through multiple iterations is something I’m genuinely proud of. This long-term partnership allowed me to help define the product’s foundation, its identity, and its evolution — and the team’s trust and satisfaction made the journey even more rewarding.
