Short description: Built new features for Golden Retriever, a 12-year-old asset inspection platform that utility crews use to document pole inspections in the field.

Project overview: Golden Retriever helps utility companies collect and manage pole inspection data. For the platform’s 12th year, the team invested in modernizing the product and expanding what inspectors can do in the field. I contributed to that work across the admin portal and the field app.

Redesigned admin portal. I rebuilt the admin interface with a new layout, a new color palette and a cleaner design. Customers can now find and manage their inspection data faster.

Pole strength calculator. I built an in-app cross-section calculator. It starts with a round pole, subtracts the damaged or missing wood, and computes the remaining area, moment of inertia and section modulus. It can attach an image of the results to the inspection record automatically. It also stores the inspector’s raw inputs separately, so the result can be checked later with another approved tool.

Geospatial data converter. I built a converter inside the admin portal that turns Shapefile, GeoJSON, KML/KMZ and GPX files into WGS84 CSV, ready to import. Before this, customers needed separate GIS software for the same task.

Customers no longer need outside GIS tools to prepare imports
