Two out of Real's four goals were scored due to own goals by the opponents. Celta's first chance came in the 38th minute when Iago Aspas tried to beat Andrey Lunin, but Lunin, the Ukrainian goalkeeper, managed to secure the curved shot with both hands.

Celta tried to threaten again in the dying minutes of injury time in the first half through Luca De La Torre, although his header did not find the target.
