PickUP | Child Transportation App Landing Page

Project Overview

PickUP is a mobile transportation platform designed to make it easier and safer for children to travel to and from their activities. The application connects parents and guardians, children, and drivers through a structured ride scheduling, verification, tracking, and completion workflow.
I designed and developed the PickUP marketing website as the digital entry point for the product. The primary objective was to clearly communicate the value of the application, explain how the service works, build trust, and encourage users to download the mobile app.
The mobile application was developed using Adalo, with dedicated experiences for parents, children, and drivers.
Website: pickupapp.org

The Challenge

PickUP addresses a real world transportation need, but the product involves multiple user types and a safety focused ride workflow.
The website needed to communicate several things clearly and quickly:
What PickUP is and who it is for
How the ride process works
How parents can manage their children's rides
How drivers interact with available rides
How pickup verification works
How users can stay informed about ride status
Where users can download the application
The challenge was to simplify these different workflows into a clear, approachable, and conversion focused website without overwhelming visitors with product complexity.

The Approach

I approached the website as an extension of the mobile product rather than as a standalone marketing website.
The experience was structured around a simple user journey:
Understand PickUP → Learn How It Works → Explore the App → Build Trust → Download the App
The visual hierarchy introduces the product immediately, explains the core functionality through concise sections, showcases the application interface, and guides users toward the primary download actions.

Website Experience

Hero Section

The hero section immediately communicates the purpose of PickUP and introduces the application through mobile app visuals.
Primary calls to action are focused around the upcoming:
Apple App Store
Google Play Store
This positions the website as a direct acquisition channel for the mobile application.

Features Section

The features section communicates the core capabilities of PickUP without requiring visitors to understand the entire application workflow.
Key functionality includes:
Ride scheduling
Driver assignment
Ride status updates
Pickup verification
Ride tracking
Notifications
Child profile management
The content and visual hierarchy were designed to make these capabilities easy to scan and understand.

How It Works

Because PickUP involves three different user roles, explaining the overall workflow was an important part of the website experience.
The process is presented as a simple journey:
Schedule → Driver Accepts → Verify → Ride → Complete
This gives prospective users a quick understanding of how a ride moves through the platform.

App Showcase

The website showcases the actual mobile application through screenshots and visual mockups.
The showcase focuses on the primary experiences across:
Parent experience
Child experience
Driver experience
This allows visitors to understand the product before downloading the application.

Trust and Transparency

Since PickUP is focused on children's transportation, trust is an important part of the product experience.
The website provides access to essential company and legal information, including:
About PickUP
Contact information
Privacy Policy
Terms and Conditions
This creates a more complete and professional digital presence around the mobile application.

Product UX

Although the primary deliverable was the marketing website, understanding the underlying mobile application was essential to communicating the product accurately.
PickUP uses role based experiences, with each user receiving a focused interface based on their responsibilities.

Parent / Guardian Experience

Parents can:
Add and manage children
Schedule rides
View upcoming rides
Monitor ride status
View completed ride history
The parent experience is centered around planning, visibility, and ride management.

Child Experience

The child experience is intentionally simplified.
Children can view:
Their upcoming ride
Driver information
Current ride status
Pickup verification code
The interface focuses only on the information needed during the transportation journey.

Driver Experience

Drivers can:
View available rides
Accept ride requests
Manage accepted rides
Verify pickup codes
Start rides
Complete rides
View ride history
This creates a structured operational workflow from ride availability through completion.

Safety Focused Ride Workflow

One of the core workflows in PickUP is the pickup verification process.
A ride moves through clearly defined stages:
Scheduled → Driver Assigned → Driver Arrived → Pickup Verified → Ride Started → Ride Completed
A unique pickup code is used to verify the handoff before the ride begins.
This workflow was important when designing the website because it allowed the product's safety and operational process to be explained through a simple visual narrative.

Responsive Design

The website was designed to provide a consistent experience across:
Desktop
Tablet
Mobile
Since the primary objective is to drive mobile application adoption, particular attention was given to the mobile browsing experience.
The responsive layout ensures that visitors can understand the product, explore its features, and access download CTAs regardless of the device they use.

Technical Implementation

The website was developed with a focus on responsiveness, performance, scalability, and usability.

Outcome

Rather than presenting the application as a simple collection of features, the website communicates the complete product journey and explains how PickUP connects parents, children, and drivers.
The result is a responsive, product focused marketing experience designed to:
Explain the Product → Build Trust → Showcase the App → Drive Downloads
