There’s something truly magical about a steaming bowl of homemade chicken broth. Beyond its comforting aroma and savory flavor, chicken bone broth holds a revered place in culinary traditions worldwide for its nourishing properties. From grandma’s kitchen to trendy health cafes, this timeless elixir remains a staple for its versatility and undeniable health benefits.

Here is the most to-the-point recipe you will see on Pinterest.

Key Ingredients for Chicken Bone Broth

Cooking chicken bones (or beef bones) for hours in water helps to extract all the nutrients from the inside of the bone. And there are a lot of amazing nutrients in there.

Vegetables

Adding veggies to your chicken bone broth gives an added bonus of minerals and nutrients. There are some go-to veggies I use, but these can be adjusted per personal preference. – Onions – Garlic – Celery – Carrots – Lentils and any other veggies you would like.

Herbs

I always put herbs in my bone broth. Actually, I put herbs in just about anything I make, edible or not. 😂 I always do basic nutritious herbs, but I play around. My most recent chicken bone broth recipe included chamomile and lavender herbs. It was amazing. It had a lot of extra nutrients added to it and would work well for a nighttime dinner when you’re feeling under the weather.

Water

This one might seem basic, but I promise you, it’s important. 😂 When you add all the ingredients to your pot (I always use my instant pot for this because it’s just so amazing), you fill it with water to the limit within the instant pot. This water will become infused with all the goodness you’ve put in and become the chicken bone broth you’re dreaming of.

What to do

Chop all the ingredients that need to be chopped.
Add them to the pot.
Top with water.
Add seasonings.
Stir.
Put on the lid.
Start.
I do two hours and twenty minutes, then let it naturally release until it’s done.
Once it has finished, you will strain it over a bowl. (Do not strain it straight into the sink like you’re straining pasta. Ask me how I know 😂).
I usually let it cool for a bit and then pour it into Ziploc freezer bags so I can lay them flat in the freezer. Much easier for storage.
Use it whenever you are feeling under the weather or your kids are sick…again or to add flavor to just about anything you’re making.
