UI/UX Design for Lionec Cryptocurrency Exchange

Overview
Lionec is a centralized cryptocurrency exchange built around privacy and anonymity.
Productea was responsible for the end-to-end creation of the product, from early discovery and branding to UX structure, UI design, and design system definition.
The Challenge
Most crypto exchanges are complex, intimidating, and heavily data-driven, often sacrificing usability in favor of technical depth.
At the same time, building a privacy-focused exchange introduces additional constraints around trust, security perception, and clarity.
The challenge was to design a product that:
Prioritizes privacy and anonymity
Feels secure and trustworthy
Remains simple and usable for non-expert users
Can scale functionally and visually over time
Discovery & Product Definition
We started with a discovery phase focused on understanding:
The target user and their privacy expectations
Core exchange flows (onboarding, trading, wallet, withdrawals)
Regulatory and technical constraints of a centralized exchange
Differentiation versus mainstream exchanges
This phase allowed us to define a clear product scope, prioritize critical flows, and avoid unnecessary complexity early on.
Branding & Visual Direction
Before moving into UI, we worked on the brand foundations to support the product vision.
The brand needed to communicate:
Strength and reliability
Discretion and privacy
Technical credibility without being intimidating
We defined the visual language, color palette, typography, and tone to ensure the brand reinforced trust while staying minimal and functional.
UX Architecture & Wireframing
With a solid product definition, we designed the UX structure of the platform:
Clear navigation and information hierarchy
Simplified trading flows
Reduced cognitive load across dashboards and data-heavy screens
Wireframes were used to validate usability and logic before investing in visual design, ensuring that flows were intuitive and scalable.
UI Design & Design System
Based on validated wireframes and brand guidelines, we designed the high-fidelity UI:
Clean, minimal interfaces focused on clarity
Consistent component behavior across the platform
Visual hierarchy that helps users understand complex data quickly
In parallel, we built a design system to ensure consistency and speed up future iterations, covering components, states, spacing, and interaction rules.
Handoff & Scalability
The final designs were delivered development-ready, with clear specifications and documentation.
The system was designed to support future features, additional trading tools, and product expansion without redesigning the core experience.
